Centroid point locations for cities, towns, villages, unincorporated places, tribal communities, and selected neighborhoods in New York State. Places that cross county boundaries have only one point location and one county assigned. Only neighborhoods in the following cities are represented: Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Rochester, and Syracuse.

Centroid points for incorporated places and Indian Territories are mathematically derived based on GPO published 1:24,000-scale NYS Civil Boundaries data. Points for unincorporated places and neighborhoods are located based on NYS Department of Transportation 1:24,000-scale raster quadrangle maps and local input.
